What is it used for?
SILDENAFIL CITRATE is used when treating male erection problems.
What should I discuss with my physician prior to taking this medicine?
Please do tell your physician if you have any of the following conditions:
- eye or vision problems, including retinitis pigmentosa (a rare inherited eye disease)
- heart disease, angina, high or low blood pressure, a history of heart attacks, or other similar problems
- kidney diseases
- liver diseases
- strokes
- an unusual or allergic reactions to sildenafil, other medicines, foods, dyes, or preservatives
- pregnant or trying to get pregnant
- breast-feeding
How is this medicine should be taken?
Take it orally with a glass of water. The dose should normally be taken 1 hour prior to sexual activity. You should never take it more than once on any given day. Please do not take this medicine more often than prescribed.
Overdosage: If you suspect an overdosage, contact the nearest poison control center or emergency room immediately.
NOTE: This medicine is only intended your use. Never share it with the others.
What are the possible interactions with the other medicine?
This medicine is not to be combined with any of the below:
- cisapride
- methscopolamine nitrate
- nitrates, including: amyl nitrite, isosorbide dinitrate, isosorbide mononitrate, nitroglycerin
- nitroprusside
- other sildenafil products (Revatio)
It may also come into interaction with the following:
- certain drugs for high blood pressure
- certain drugs for the treatment of HIV infection or AIDS
- certain drugs used for fungal or yeast infections, like fluconazole, itraconazole, ketoconazole, and voriconazole
- cimetidine
- erythromycin
- rifampin
This list is exemplary and can not possibly include all interactions. Provide your physician with a list of all the medicine, including herbs and non-prescription drugs, or dietary supplements that you are using. Do let them know if you smoke, drink alcohol, or use any of the illegal drugs. Some of those items may also interact with your medicine, causing undesired consequenses.
Is there anything I should pay attention to while taking it?
If there are any noticeable changes in your vision after you started taking this drug, inform your doctor or health care professional at once.
Contact you physician right away if the erection lasts for over 4 hours or if it becomes painful at any point. Those may signify serious problems and have to be treated straightaway to prevent permanent damage to your health.
If you are experiencing nausea, dizziness, chest pain or arm pain symptoms at any time during sexual activity following taking of this medicine, please refrain from any further activity and refer to your doctor or health care professional ASAP.
This medicine usage does not protect you and your partner from HIV infection (the virus causing AIDS) or any other sexually transmitted diseases.
Does this medicine have any possible side effects?
The following side effects should be reported to your doctor or health care professional as soon as they are noticed:
- allergic reactions, including skin rash, itching or hives, the face, lips, or tongue swelling
- breathing problems
- hearing changes
- changes in the vision, blurred vision, trouble telling the colors apart
- chest pain
- fast irregular heartbeat
- prolonged or painful erection (lasting for more than 4 hours)
- seizures
The below side effects usually do not necessary require any medical attention (please do report them to your physician if they are recurrent or bothersome):
- diarrhea
- flushing
- headache
- indigestion
- stuffy or running nose
Other side effects are also possible, for the above list is not all inclusive. Consult with your doctor for advice regarding the side effects.
Where should I store it?
Keep it out of children’s reach.
This medicine should be stored at the room temperature between 15 and 30 degrees C (59 and 86 degrees F). Dispose of any unused medicine after the expiry date is reached.
